Identical in features to the traditional but now defunct Willis & Geiger and similar British shirts that have served in the field and on the battlefield, upgraded to Lost Worlds standards of quality, pattern and fit. Compare our stitching, buttonholes, the little things so often taken for granted by those unfamiliar with the performance criteria required of genuine shirts of military, safari and hunting lineage. We increased button size slightly, for quicker, surer access in the field. We use pure nylon thread rather than cotton for durability and stain resistance (in contrast, our famed leather jackets use cotton for strict authenticity). Having sold Willis & Geiger Outfitters in the 1980s by mail order, we learned what was great in these shirts and jackets and, given customer feedback, what could be refined and developed further. Amazing flexibility: from traveling the globe to the office and all points in between. Made at our own NYC factory to the same peerless standards as Lost Worlds classic leather jackets, the finest in the world for detail, authenticity and build. Each shirt made by one skilled worker. Two chest and large and small sleeve pockets (except in Morning Silk, Cashmere and Rayon Gabardine configurations). Sleeve Roll tabs. DOUBLE NEEDLE CLOSED SEAM construction (where avail.). A) Famed 100% Bush Poplin Cotton, Khaki. Fine strength, very good water resistance. The same material used by Willis & Geiger Outfitters for many years. We bought the last of this from Land's End, the last W&G owner, when firm folded. Very limited quantities. B) 81Cotton/19Nylon Olive or White Military Oxford, full waterproof Quarpel finish. Dense, extraordinarily durable, a unique textile. Obtained from US military convertors. A nylon component is added to the fill of each cotton pick, adding superb strength yet the fabric hand is matchless, sleek cotton. Much lighter in weight than Bush Poplin and fully waterproof and virtually impossible to tear. Good breathing in the field. For those who think a nylon component is less desirable than 100% cotton, untrue. This isn't polyester. The nylon fill in the Military Oxford strengthens and extends the performance of the cotton significantly. An upgrade. Silken, expensive hand. C)
100% Rayon Gabardine (Black,
Navy); 100% Morning Silk (what the day coats of early 20th century
gentlemen of breeding were made of!); luxurious Cashmere/Wool. Dressier,
more casual applications for the Safari Shirt. In Silk or Cashmere the
Safari Shirt becomes a shirt-jacket, worn open over, say, excellent dress
moleskins or Wrangler Rigid Indigo Cowboy Cuts. It all works because classic
is classic. SAFARI BUSH SHIRT $165.00 (Khaki Bush
Poplin, Olive or White Military Oxford ), Long Sleeve |
