In the many guitars I've collected since the 1960s, authenticity has been the mainstay, in originals, then reissues.
I owned and was enthralled by originals when young and always sought pristine, non-wannabe examples. I've also owned ten Gibson Historic Division Custom Shop Les Pauls and only selected those Gold Tops and Sunbursts with accurate, unfaded, undoctored finishes. But the bean counters at Gibson always respond to customer preference, however dimwitted, so doctored, faded, aged finishes are the norm. But every so often Gibson will turn out an accurate, correct, mind-blowing top, and this is one!
Eastern Hard Rock Maple is esteemed for its density and tone. Most Custom Shop examples are Michigan Maple, which differ in grain and, it is said, tone. The fantastic flame on this gem speaks for itself. Condition is Mint with vague use tarnishing on metal parts.
