OSHWAHKON opened its NYC Soho loft in 1971, echoing in design originality and materials the nearby now famous  EAST/WEST MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS Leatherwear Shop . The inspirations for both companies were the late 60s -- when rock and roll and the Youth Generation redefined style and image. Dishy hippie chicks making clothes for bands and boyfriends. Or Suze Rotolo sewing denim inserts into the bottom hem of Bob Dylan's skin tight jeans so they'd fit over his Beatle boots. Art, thy name is vanity and promotion. Oshwahkon and East/West raised the bar with vanguard bespoke leather creations for 'Unpoor West Village Hippies' and musicians with record contracts!  Eye-catching. Elite. Stage and celebrity wear. Trademarks of Hip. Expensive, always custom. For, say, a David Crosby or a Mama or Papa. Our max cool Oshwahkon CROSBY recreates a scarce jacket from the Lost Worlds Collection -- a gem of design, flash, originality and detail elan for awesome period and current cred. Very CSNY. Very THEN! Definitely not hippie with a sewing machine in a van. Millionaire Laurel Canyon rock and roll cowboy Porsche attire.
